Four ways we get you
off the carpet.
Full staircase builds
New stringers, treads, risers, and skirt board for additions, basement finishes, and gut remodels. Built to code and laid out so every step falls the same.
Railings, newels & balusters
Handrail, posts, and iron or wood balusters — drilled, plumbed, and set so nothing wiggles in year three.
Repairs & replacement
Squeaks, loose treads, split nosings, and steps that have taken a beating. We pull what's failed and put solid wood back in its place.
02 Species
Pick the grain.
We'll match the rest
of the house.
We run white oak, hard maple, hickory, walnut, and pine as our regulars — and we'll source whatever species your floors already are. Samples come to you, so you can hold the grain up against your own floor, in your own light, before anything is committed.
White Oak
Tight, straight grain with long rays and a calm, even color. Harder and more stable than red oak, and it never goes orange on you.
Hard Maple
Pale, nearly grainless, and very hard. The pick when you want the whole flight to read as one clean surface.
Hickory
The loudest grain we run — cream sapwood set right against dark heartwood. Also the hardest domestic species on the list.
Walnut
Chocolate heartwood with a purple undertone. Softer than oak, and the richest-looking wood in the house.
Pine
Warm, knotty, and honest. Right for mountain houses, cabins, and anywhere the risers are getting painted later.
Your species
Red oak, ash, birch, mahogany — or a reclaimed slab you already own. Bring it and we'll mill it.

Walk the stairs
We come out, measure the rise and run of every step, look at the wood already in your house, and tell you what we'd do. Free, and no pressure to book.

Mill to your numbers
Your treads get cut, sanded, and edge-profiled to the stringer we measured — not to a stock size off a shelf.

Install
Old material out. New treads and risers glued, screwed, and set — then we plug the fasteners and sand everything flush and clean, ready for whoever is putting the finish on.

Before you call.
Can we still use the stairs while you work?
Almost always, yes. We work in sections and leave a safe way up and down every single night before we go.
How long does a flight take?
Most tread-and-riser jobs are a few days on site. Full builds run longer — you get a real schedule with your estimate, not a guess.
Do you stain and finish the stairs?
No — we don't stain. We build and install the wood and hand it over sanded and clean, ready for your painter or finisher to take it from there.
Can you match the wood in the rest of my house?
That's most of what we do. We bring samples of the species and the grain, hold them against your floor in daylight, and let you decide before anything gets cut.
Do you charge for the estimate?
No. The walkthrough, the measurements, and the number are free.
